The Old Stone House stands apart on M Street as the only structure in Washington, District of Columbia, that has remained in its original location since before the American Revolution. Built in seventeen sixty-five, the building is made of blue granite and fieldstone quarried from near the Potomac River. While the rest of Georgetown evolved into a busy commercial district, this simple, thick-walled house survived through a persistent local legend.
