Central Grocery and Deli occupies a narrow storefront on Decatur Street. Since nineteen oh six, this Italian-American market has operated as a fixture of the French Quarter, established during a time when the surrounding area was known as Little Palermo due to its high concentration of Sicilian immigrants. The shop maintains an interior lined with shelves of imported pasta and olive oil, retaining the atmosphere of the early twentieth-century grocery stores that once populated the neighborhood.
