Gapstow Bridge

Gapstow Bridge is a stone arch that rises twelve feet above the water, spanning forty-four feet across the narrow neck of the Pond in the southeast corner of Central Park. Constructed from rough-hewn Manhattan schist, its rugged, unadorned surfaces are often partially covered in ivy. It provides a passage for pedestrians across the water while framing views that include the skyscrapers of Central Park South and the nearby Plaza Hotel.
