The Eastern States Buddhist Temple of America is recognizable by its bright red doors and the statues of dragons flanking the entrance. Founded in nineteen sixty-two by Annie and James Ying, it holds the distinction of being the oldest Chinese Buddhist temple on the East Coast of the United States.
