The Metropolitan Club occupies the northeast corner of Fifth Avenue and Sixtieth Street, distinguished by its white Tuckahoe marble facade and a grand wrought-iron entrance gate. Designed by Stanford White of the firm McKim, Mead and White, the building opened in eighteen ninety-four as a social venue for the city’s wealthiest citizens.
