Historic RCA Studio B is a one- and two-story concrete-block building on the corner of Music Square West and Roy Acuff Place. Built in nineteen fifty-seven by developer Dan Maddox, it became the primary recording home for RCA Records in Nashville. Within these walls, producers and musicians ignored official recording manuals to experiment with microphone placement, favoring intimate sounds over standard technical rules. This approach helped create the so-called Nashville Sound, a style defined by smooth string sections and background vocals.
