Nashville Public Library

The Nashville Public Library main branch occupies a full city block on Church Street, defined by a massive neoclassical limestone facade featuring prominent Ionic columns. Opened in two thousand one, the three hundred thousand square foot building was designed by Robert A.M. Stern Architects to mirror the scale and materials of classical institutions. The entrance is marked by twenty-four bronze relief panels created by local sculptor Alan LeQuire, which depict native Tennessee flora, fauna, and notable figures from the state’s history.
