The Arcade is a two-story, glass-roofed shopping gallery that stretches between Fourth and Fifth avenues. Completed in nineteen oh two, the building replaced a narrow passage known as Overton Alley to become Nashville’s first enclosed shopping center. Its design, created by the firm Thompson, Gibel and Asmus, features identical Palladian entrances and a gabled roof braced by rolled steel.
