Ghost Ballet For The East Bank Machineworks

Ghost Ballet for the East Bank Machineworks rises one hundred feet into the air as a tangle of red-painted steel trusses. The sculpture, completed in two thousand seven, rests on the concrete foundations of an industrial gantry crane that once lowered barges into the Cumberland River. It was the first commission funded under the city’s Percent for Art program, chosen through a national competition to mark the area’s shift from a working industrial site to public recreation.
