The Founders Monument

The Founders Monument stands in front of the historic Bexar County Courthouse, identifiable by a collection of five life-sized bronze figures accompanied by a bronze goat. Unveiled in March two thousand nineteen, this public art piece honors the diverse groups that contributed to the colonial settlement of the area. Laredo artist Armando Hinojosa sculpted the figures to represent a Native American, a Franciscan friar, a Spanish presidio soldier, and a man and woman from the Canary Islands.
