Rukhobod Mausoleum

The Rukhobod Mausoleum stands out in Samarkand for its stark, unadorned brick exterior, lacking the colorful tile work and towering entrance portals common to other fourteenth-century monuments in the city. Built in thirteen eighty by order of Amir Timur, this single-domed square structure was created to house the remains of the Islamic theologian and mystic Sheikh Burhan al-Din Sagarji.
