Clarence Street began its life in eighteen ten, when Governor Macquarie renamed the thoroughfare after the Duke of Clarence. Originally known as Middle Soldiers Row, the street evolved over two centuries into a vital corridor within the Sydney central business district, today feeding heavy traffic directly toward the Harbour Bridge.
