Groot Vleeshuis

The Groot Vleeshuis is defined by a massive, high-pitched roof that resembles an overturned boat. Built between fourteen oh seven and fourteen nineteen, this Gothic structure was commissioned by the city to centralize the meat trade and enforce guild regulations. Butchers were forbidden from selling meat at home, and this hall provided a dedicated space for every member of the guild to rent a stall.
