St Michael's Bridge

St Michael's Bridge is a stone arch bridge defined by a central lantern topped with a bronze statue of Saint Michael the Archangel. The figure depicts the archangel in armor, wings spread, as he skewers a dragon with his sword. Designed by the architect Louis Cloquet, the bridge was constructed between nineteen oh five and nineteen oh nine to replace a flat wooden swing bridge that previously handled the river traffic here.
