Korenlei

The Korenlei is a riverbank quay characterized by its row of historic, ornate guild houses that feature tall, stepped gables. It runs along the left bank of the Leie river, directly across from the Graslei, forming a central part of the city’s medieval port. In Dutch, the name translates to Wheat Quay, reflecting its history as a primary docking site for the grain trade that drove the city’s wealth between the eleventh and sixteenth centuries.
