The National Assembly Building in Sofia is a Neo-Renaissance structure marked by a symmetrical white facade and arched windows. You can recognize it on the reverse side of the twenty leva banknote, where it stands as a fixture of the city center. Completed in eighteen eighty-six, the building was designed by the Serbian-Bulgarian architect Konstantin Jovanović. Construction was led by a twenty-two-year-old builder from Saxony named Friedrich Wilhelm Gustav Liebe.
