Stephen Avenue Walk

Stephen Avenue Walk is defined by a series of sandstone commercial buildings that rose after a fire destroyed much of the city in eighteen eighty-six. This four-block stretch of Eighth Avenue Southwest, which runs between First Street Southeast and Fourth Street Southwest, became known as the Sandstone City because of these fire-resistant structures.
