Glenbow Museum

The Glenbow Museum occupies a large, eight-story structure in downtown Calgary. It began with the personal collecting habits of Eric Lafferty Harvie, an Alberta lawyer and oilman who became fascinated by the history of Western Canada in the mid-twentieth century. Harvie’s acquisition methods were unconventional, as he frequently purchased entire collections just to secure specific pieces, often sneaking items into his own basement to keep them from his wife.
