The Calgary Central Library is defined by its crystalline, hexagonal glass façade that shifts appearance depending on your vantage point. Opened in two thousand eighteen, the structure is famously built directly over a curved, operational light rail transit tunnel that once split downtown from the East Village. To overcome this engineering constraint, architects Snøhetta and DIALOG elevated the building, creating an arched entrance that spans the tracks and acts as a physical bridge between the two neighborhoods.
