Calgary Chinese Cultural Centre

The Calgary Chinese Cultural Centre is recognizable by its prominent dome covered in blue tiles, which were imported from China and crafted by the same company that produced the original tiles for the Temple of Heaven in Beijing. Completed in nineteen ninety-two, the building was conceived during a period of urban redevelopment in the nineteen eighties. At that time, local residents and city planners collaborated on a project to preserve the cultural identity of Chinatown, which faced the risk of being reduced in size by up to forty percent.
