Calgary City Hall is a four-story building distinguished by its heavy, rough-hewn sandstone exterior, a central clock tower, and a steep roof covered in red pressed metal tiles. Completed in nineteen eleven, it is the only major city hall in Canada built in the Richardsonian Romanesque style. Its design, featuring deep-set windows and massive stone arches, was intended to project the image of a city on the verge of a major economic boom.
