Simmons Building

The Simmons Building is a two-story, red-brick warehouse defined by its heavy timber construction and a weathered, industrial exterior that still bears remnants of its original painted signage. Erected in nineteen twelve, this structure was built by the Alaska Bedding Company at the peak of a city-wide development boom, costing roughly twenty thousand dollars to complete. It was engineered with massive twelve-inch spruce posts and sturdy beams to support the heavy machinery and supplies required for the manufacturing of mattresses, pillows, and military bedding.
