The King Eddy is a brick building on Ninth Avenue Southeast recognizable by its historic Edwardian facade and the original neon sign that still hangs outside. Built in phases between nineteen oh five and nineteen ten, it served as a bustling hotel for railway workers and travelers near the Canadian Pacific Railway station. During the nineteen eighties, the hotel bar earned a reputation as Calgary’s Home of the Blues, drawing legendary performers including B. B. King, Pinetop Perkins, and Otis Rush to its stage.
