Split City Museum

The Split City Museum is housed inside the Papalić Palace, a late-Gothic building located within the northeastern section of Diocletian’s Palace. You can identify the museum by the ornate, carved entrance portal of the palace, which bears the family crest of the noble Papalić family who commissioned the home in the fifteenth century. Designed by the master builder Juraj Dalmatinac, the structure features a courtyard, a stone loggia, and a formal hall on the first floor that retains its original wooden ceiling.
