The Beffroi de Lille reaches three hundred and forty-one feet into the sky, making it the tallest municipal building in France. Its slender silhouette is a distinct mix of red brick and reinforced concrete, designed by architect Émile Dubuisson with Art Deco lines and traditional Flemish gables that mimic the city’s historic houses. At the base, statues of the giants Lydéric and Phinaert stand guard, representing the legendary founders of the city.
