Pont Napoléon

The Pont Napoléon is a covered pedestrian bridge spanning the Moyenne-Deûle canal, marked by two bronze sphinxes at its base. Architect Benjamin Dewarlez first designed this structure in eighteen twelve to connect the Esplanade and the Champ de Mars, intentionally incorporating neo-Egyptian influences and engraving the names of French military victories into its stone pillars.
