Église catholique Saint-Pierre-Saint-Paul à Lille

religious

The church of Saint-Pierre-Saint-Paul stands out for its deep red brick walls and a steeple that rises fifty-nine meters above the Wazemmes market square. Built between eighteen fifty-four and eighteen fifty-seven by architect Pierre Caloine, this neo-roman structure was designed to accommodate the growing number of worshippers in the neighborhood. Its main facade features a carved tympanum depicting the four evangelists as a man, a lion, a bull, and an eagle.
