The Fête à Neuneu is defined by its collection of traveling fairground rides and traditional game stalls, typically spread across the landscape near the Porte de la Muette at the edge of the Bois de Boulogne. Originally established by a decree from Napoleon the First in eighteen fifteen, the fair was first held in the commune of Neuilly-sur-Seine. It quickly became a significant local institution, drawing crowds from across all social classes who gathered to see freak shows, ride wooden horses, and listen to traditional barkers.
