Monument de la Cascade du Bois de Boulogne

The cylindrical stone monument at the Carrefour de Longchamp commemorates the thirty-five young resistance fighters who were executed here on August sixteenth, nineteen forty-four. These men, mostly aged between eighteen and twenty-two, were lured to the site by a French collaborator posing as a leader of a weapons-smuggling operation. Instead, they were met by the Gestapo and shot, just days before the liberation of Paris.
