The Cascade du Bois de Boulogne is a twelve-meter-high artificial waterfall constructed in eighteen fifty-six. Designed by engineer Eugène Belgrand under the direction of Napoleon the Third, the cascade features four thousand cubic meters of rock brought from the forest of Fontainebleau. Beside the water sits a pavilion originally built as an imperial hunting lodge, which has since been converted into a restaurant.
