A bronze equestrian statue of Marshal Ferdinand Foch stands at the center of the Place du Trocadéro-et-du-11-Novembre. The monument depicts the commander of the Allied armies during the First World War mounted on a horse, raised eight meters above the ground on a masonry pedestal. Unlike many other military monuments, this figure is portrayed bareheaded, a design choice specifically requested by the fine arts administration to evoke the style of classical Roman statuary.
