The Ateliers Berthier are defined by their industrial scale, featuring wide openings and soaring interior ceilings that were engineered to house the enormous stage sets of the Paris Opera. Built between eighteen ninety-five and eighteen ninety-eight by Charles Garnier—the same architect who designed the famous Palais Garnier—this complex was originally constructed to store and construct sets after a devastating fire destroyed the Opera's previous workshops on rue Richer.
