The monument to Alexandre Dumas is a bronze sculpture showing the author seated in a dressing gown, a work cast by Gustave Doré and inaugurated on November fourth, eighteen eighty-three. It sits in the center of the Place du Général-Catroux, surrounded by lawns and flower beds. Around the base of the sculpture, figures representing the novelist's readers and characters from his books lean against the pedestal, while a separate sculpture of D'Artagnan stands nearby.
