Fontaine du Fellah

The Fontaine du Fellah is a neo-Egyptian monument built into the wall of a building at forty-two rue de Sèvres. It features a niche containing a life-sized statue of a figure holding two amphorae, with an imperial eagle carved onto the fronton above. The design serves as a relic of the intense Egyptian fashion that swept through Paris after Napoleon Bonaparte’s military campaign in Egypt at the turn of the nineteenth century.
