The Bassins du Champ de Mars consist of a series of rectangular ponds set directly into the ground at the Place Jacques-Rueff. Positioned between the Eiffel Tower and the École Militaire, these water features break up the long, sweeping lawns of the park. They were constructed between nineteen oh eight and nineteen twenty-eight, integrated into the site long after its original life as a military training ground had passed.
