The Théâtre de Paris at fifteen rue Blanche occupies a site with a long, shifting history that began when the Duke of Richelieu built a private theater here in seventeen thirty. The land has served as a pleasure ground called the Folie-Richelieu, a nineteenth-century amusement park, and even a roller skating rink before the current structure took shape as the Nouveau-Théâtre in eighteen ninety-one.
