The Hôtel de Rochechouart, located at one hundred and ten rue de Grenelle, is recognizable by its neoclassical facade featuring alternating bays and fluted pilasters topped with Corinthian capitals. Built between seventeen seventy-six and seventeen seventy-eight by architect Mathurin Cherpitel for the marquise de Courteilles, the residence was intended for her daughter, Madeleine Mélanie de Rochechouart. Since eighteen twenty-nine, it has served as the headquarters for the French ministry responsible for education.
