Le Gerny's

At fifty-four rue Pierre-Charron, the current Hôtel Château Frontenac marks the site of the former cabaret Le Gerny’s. In October nineteen thirty-five, the club’s owner, Louis Leplée, invited a young, unknown street singer named Édith Gassion to perform here. He provided her with a stage name, La Môme Piaf, or The Little Sparrow, and insisted she wear a simple black dress rather than a costume.
