Statue of Winston Churchill, Paris

A three-meter-tall bronze figure of Winston Churchill strides purposefully forward, captured mid-step in a long coat with a cane in hand. Sculpted by Jean Cardot, the statue stands near the Petit Palais on the avenue that bears the British statesman’s name. Its pose is based on a photograph of Churchill walking down the Champs-Élysées alongside General Charles de Gaulle on the eleventh of November, nineteen forty-four.
