The Marché couvert des Carmes is a concrete structure that houses a market and a multi-level parking garage. You can identify it by its distinct mid-twentieth-century design, which replaced a late nineteenth-century metal hall on this same spot in nineteen sixty-three. Architects Georges Candilis, Alexis Josic, and Shadrach Woods, who were notable for their large-scale housing projects in the region, designed this building to fit into the historic fabric of the neighborhood.
