Ombres Blanches occupies a cluster of buildings along the rue Gambetta, distinguished by a sprawling, multi-shop layout that has grown outward from a single storefront over five decades. Founded in nineteen seventy-five by Jean-Paul Archie, this independent bookstore began in a small space of eighty square meters. Its name is drawn from the nineteen twenty-eight surrealist film of the same title, a choice reflecting the original founders' passion for cinema.
