Blaue-Funken-Turm (Sachsenturm); Eventlocation

The Sachsenturm, or Blaue-Funken-Turm, is a medieval stone tower that rises from a remnant of the old city wall along the Sachsenring. Built around the year eleven eighty, it was one of fifty-two defensive towers that once ringed Cologne. While most of the wall was demolished in the eighteen eighties, this tower survived, eventually becoming a quiet ruin until the mid-twentieth century.
