The Church of St. Cecilia is a low-slung, three-aisled Romanesque basilica that stands apart from the other major churches in Cologne by its lack of a grand tower. Built between eleven thirty and eleven sixty on the ruins of an ancient Roman bath, its architecture is defined by a modest, sober profile that has remained largely unchanged for nearly a thousand years.
