Deutzer Brücke

The Deutzer Brücke is defined by its exceptionally slender, flat profile, which stays low to the water to keep the Cologne skyline and cathedral unobstructed. Completed in nineteen forty-eight, it was the first steel box girder bridge in the world. Its design, by Fritz Leonhardt and architect Gerd Lohmer, prioritized minimal material use in a post-war landscape, achieving its iconic, unobtrusive shape.
