Museum of Applied Arts Cologne

The Museum of Applied Arts in Cologne, often called the MAKK, is identified by its plain red-brick exterior that wraps around a square central courtyard. This modern, structured building sits directly beside the late-Gothic Minorite church, intentionally echoing the floor plan of the monastery that once occupied the site. Inside, a low foyer opens into a spacious hall and grand staircase, a design intended to create a cathedral-like atmosphere.
