Römischer Abwasserkanal

The Römischer Abwasserkanal in Cologne appears as a series of heavy, solid stone walls preserved from the first century. While sections of this ancient engineering remain buried nine meters below street level, a salvaged portion was placed in the open air near the intersection of Unter Goldschmied and Große Budengasse. This structure is a remnant of a larger network designed to carry wastewater from the Roman city directly into the Rhine.
