Ancient Stadium of Rhodes

The Ancient Stadium of Rhodes stretches two hundred ten meters across a natural depression on the slopes of Monte Smith. Built during the Hellenistic period in the third or second century BC, this limestone arena features a rounded end known as the sphendone, where athletes once navigated a turning post. Portions of the original seating, including the proedries reserved for officials, remain visible along the auditorium slopes.
