Saint Nicholas Fortress

The Saint Nicholas Fortress stands at the northern tip of the harbor mole in Mandraki, easily identified by its position at the end of the long stone pier. This fortress was constructed between fourteen sixty-four and fourteen sixty-seven by the Grand Master Piero Raimondo Zacosta of the Knights Hospitaller. It occupies the site of a former Byzantine church dedicated to Saint Nicholas, which gave the structure its name.
