Street of the Knights of Rhodes

The Street of the Knights, known locally as Odos Ippoton, is a stone-paved thoroughfare rising steadily toward the Palace of the Grand Master in the medieval city of Rhodes. It is distinguished by its remarkable straightness and its row of imposing Gothic buildings, which feature thick stone walls, arched gateways, and carved heraldic shields. These structures were built between the fourteenth and sixteenth centuries to house the Knights Hospitaller, a military order that governed the island.
