The Bastion del Carretto is a massive, circular stone fortification rising from the southeastern section of the medieval walls of Rhodes. It marks the precise location where Ottoman forces breached the city defenses during the siege of fourteen eighty. After that intense battle, where elite janissaries forced their way inside only to be repelled by the Knights Hospitaller, the fortification was significantly strengthened.
